Tizanidine or Zanaflex used is associated with dry mouth, sedation,
and dizziness. In overdose, heart beat irregularities occur. If
nausea, drowsiness, dizziness, constipation, unusual weakness or dry
mouth continue or are bothersome, notify your doctor. To minimize
dizziness, stand up slowly when arising from a sitting or lying
position.
A serious allergic reaction to Tizanidine- Zanaflex is unlikely;
seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of a serious
allergic reaction include rash, itching, severe dizziness, trouble
breathing. Common side effects that may go away as your body adjusts
to the medication and do not require medical attention unless they
continue for more than two weeks or are bothersome.
Common side effects that should be reported to the doctor as soon as
possible: burning, prickling, or tingling sensation, diarrhea,
fainting, fever, loss of appetite, nausea, nervousness, pain or
burning during urination; sores on skin; stomach pain; vomiting;
yellow eyes or skin; blurred vision. Side effects can be mild or
severe, temporary or permanent. Many of these side effects can be
managed, and some may go away on their own over time.
Although most of the side effects listed above don't happen very
often, they could lead to serious problems if you do not seek
medical attention. All medicines may cause side effects, but many
people have no, or minor, side effects. Side effects cannot be
anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, tell your doctor
as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine if it is safe to
continue using Zanaflex.
